Our Mission

Koniku’s mission is to deliver ground breaking Brain-On-Chip testing methods that improve the drug discovery process. Our proprietary tools for electrophysiology analysis reveal the sub-cellular effects of treatments and diseases including Alzheimer’s, Cardiomyopathy, and Cancers.

About

We at Koniku are focused on improving the complex and costly drug discovery process by providing tools that allow researchers to focus on finding new therapies quickly. Combining cutting edge technologies in a variety of disciplines we are able to reveal human cell actions and interactions that have never before been observed and studied. Our focus is on the use and interaction of human neurons which contains the keys to unlocking discoveries that have the potential to cure and treat diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, and other diseases that effect millions of people everyday.

Koniku LTD UK, a startup focused on improving clinical trial success rates in the pharmaceutical industry, took home the top prizes at the MIT Global Startup Workshop held this year in Guatemala City and hosted by Universidad Francesco Marroquin (UFM), Guatemala. (more…)

Koniku Wins MIT Global Startup Workshop Grand Prize

The future growth of the $1.2 Trillion (by 2016) pharmaceutical industry depends on a continued stream of successful clinical trials resulting in the commercialization of new drug therapies. Pharmaceutical companies employ a variety of preclinical testing techniques that make up a market of $46.5B.

We use proprietary lab-on-chip technologies to replicate human drug interaction in preclinical testing. Our system delivers data that can better predict which drugs will succeed in clinical trials prior to making costly investments

WELCOME TO KONIKU

The pharmaceutical industry is plagued with high costs and low productivity; development of a new drug costs over $1 billion. Human clinical trials are the most expensive portion of these costs, yet they fail over 85% of the time. These trials fail because preclinical test methods are poor predictors of actual human response and the wrong drugs are moved forward into clinical trials. The lack of technology to predict human response to new drugs leads to costly clinical failures for pharmaceutical companies and delays in treatments for sufferers of debilitating diseases.

The Problem

Technology

Our team is dedicated to driving break through research and development focused on biotechnology and drug discovery. Using a combination of proprietary micro electrode array (MEA) technology, iPS cell biology, nano fabrication, and software we provide patch clamp quality electrophysiological data over extended monitoring periods.

We are eager to work with partners who can utilize our technology or help us achieve our mission. If you are interested in learning more please Contact Us.

Careers

Koniku is focused on building a team comprised of top talent in a variety of disciplines across science, engineering and business management. Though we are a small group we have big plans and are always on the hunt for who our next team member will be. Currently we are seeking electrical engineers (preferably a PhD) with a startup mindset, experience in signal processing, analog circuit design and “wetware”. We are also scouting for an experienced data analyst with a strong analytical mind. If you are interested in joining the team please fill out the contact form below.

Contact Us

We are always eager to hear from researchers in electrophysiology, cell-based assays, and drug discovery. Our team strives to respond ASAP to all inquiries, please include the best contact method when reaching out.
